English is a West Germanic Language originally spoken in early medieval England. Now, English is the official language of at least 54 different countries and recognized and spoken in many more areas of the world. There are three distinct forms of the English language as they have transformed over the years and they are as follows: Old English, Middle English, and Modern English.
Every language is used to communicate with one another and to define the world we live in. With every language a different society, culture, and way of living is attached. In my class you will explore the world through the English language and learn new and more efficient ways to express yourself and communicate with others. Reading literature in English will give you a better idea of the world you live in and how to be part of it. You can discover your interests and passions, and find ways to leave your own unique footprint on the world. You may also learn about cultures other than your own and how to relate and interact positively with people from different backgrounds.
Finding ways to express yourself is a crucial aspect of growing and developing your personality. Because no one else in the world can be you, it is important that you are able to define yourself for your own benefit and for others to know how to relate with you. English is an important tool to allow people to put their thoughts and feelings into words and communicate these thoughts and feelings with others. Being able to put abstract thoughts into words and communicate them to one another is one of the things that set us humans apart from animals, and it is something that makes us unique; so why not embrace what makes us different?
